White Rock Elementary School
This replacement school was designed to accommodate K-8 students, plus a district fine arts program. The exterior of the school is traditional in its appearance, effectively using cly brick, Hardi-plank and shingle siding in a craftsman style pallet.
The classrooms are grouped in 4 ‘pods’ around project spaces, two per floor. All 16 classrooms face the south view of Semiahmoo Bay with support spaces occupying the north side.
To keep costs down residential style wood trusses for the majority of floor and roof framing and timber strand and steel truss system with exposed wood framing for longer spans were used.
The school is designed to be energy efficient and is provided with ‘state of the art’ communication systems.
