Camosun College proposed a new film campus and educational building at its Interurban campus, featuring three sound stages, support and production offices, and new classroom spaces for a film training program.

Currently, the educational program does not exist, and the College sees this as an opportunity to create training programs and facilities to support a growing industry. Developed with both educational and film industry expertise, the project aimed to meet optimal building and education requirements.

The Centre for Film and Digital Media Education was designed to provide purpose-built sound stages and modern classrooms equipped for collaborative teaching, flexible learning spaces, equipment storage, and staging areas.

The 2019 campus master plan for Camosun College, which guided long-term campus planning, anticipated growth at the south end of the Interurban campus.

This film campus complemented existing technology and trades programs, maximized underutilized campus land, and offered new revenue opportunities through sound stage rentals and expanded educational programs.
