Overview
Thinkspace, in collaboration with WSP, utilized an inclusive design process to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing design for the College of the Rockies (COTR).
This process included various online workshops and one in-person workshop to review concepts and confirm requirements.
COTR, located in the East Kootenays, serves as a regional leader in education, applied research, innovation, and workforce preparation.
The proposed health science project is situated on the main Cranbrook campus, which offers programs like the Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science Nursing Partnership degree, Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices, First Aid, Millwright, and Timber Framing.
COTR aims to improve and enhance the Cranbrook campus through the new health science facility, which will enable program expansion and better services for students and the community.
Workshops helped outline spaces, adjacencies, and specific program needs, forming the basis for the conceptual design.
The facility will include nursing labs, classrooms, simulation spaces, and an expanded gym with a larger weight room.
