The Camosun College master plan was a comprehensive update to the College’s long-term plan for its Lansdowne and Interurban campuses. The planning process was complicated by the fact that a significant portion of the Lansdowne campus population was shifting to Interurban – while the plan was being developed – with the opening of the Alex & Jo Campbell Centre for Health and Wellness.

This necessitated two simultaneous streams of work: a master plan update to establish ways the campuses could be developed over the long term, and a short- to medium-term plan to balance programs and populations on both campuses.

The short-term campus renewal component added detail and information to concepts identified in the master plan as they related to proposed space usage. One of the projects outlined in the campus renewal, the creative redevelopment of the Wilna Thomas Building, was approved and delivered by the Thinkspace interior design team.

The Camosun master plan was the result of numerous consultations and stakeholder engagement sessions. These sessions led to the development and confirmation of the vision and principles of the master planning process, and provided detailed programming information required for the assessment of space needs across the entire campus.
