The Chemistry Centre Atrium had been quite a dark space for many years. The University had been looking for opportunities to expand available space for student use across the entire campus. The Chemistry Atrium provided an opportunity to address both the amount of available student space and the darkness of this area.

Thinkspace was asked to provide ideas for the length of the atrium that would be implemented in phases. The solution was to develop a series of student “touch down” areas that allowed students to congregate and even work.

To that end, glass surfaces and bright lighting were added to act as writing surfaces adjacent to student seating and working space. This included electrical outlets for laptop and device charging.
