Thinkspace was retained to deliver a new building concept for the U of A School of Business. A schematic design was developed in consultation with the Vice President of Facilities and Operations, the Dean, and the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business, to support a business case for capital funding.

The building provides undergraduate and post-graduate business education and research space. Post-graduate programs have space tailored to the needs of the cohort groups with lecture, team workspace, and gathering areas separate from the undergraduate business areas of the building, where the course of study is broader. The MBA programs require space that is much more suited to the case study and discussion-based nature of business education at this level.

The upper floors consist of a dedicated library and information commons as well as symposium space shared with the business community. These areas have limited food service, general sessions space, and break-out spaces, all of which enjoy views of the downtown Edmonton skyline.

The building was designed to be complemented by the Lougheed Centre residence, which was originally intended to provide housing for business students. At this time, funding constraints in Alberta have delayed the business school project.
