University of Alberta Chemistry Laboratory Redevelopment
Client: University of Alberta
Location: Edmonton, AB
Overview:
Redevelopment of 18 organic and non‐organic chemistry teaching laboratories for undergraduates. Built in 1970, the existing laboratories have not been upgraded. Fume hoods, bench casework and systems have all reached the end of their useful lives and replacement was required.
Construction was scheduled in 9 phases in pairs – one above the other (the services are stacked, and the labs occur on two floors) slated to start with a finish date of 8 months for every pair of labs. Once the first pair was developed, they were occupied and the next pair was constructed and so forth until all 18 labs were completed.
