Robert G Kuhn Building at Trinity Western University

Client: Trinity Western University
Location: Langley, BC
Overview:

Thinkspace is the prime consultant delivering the new business school at Trinity Western University (TWU). The Robert G. Kuhn Building, as it will be known, will be the new home of the university’s school of business and TWU GLOBAL, an international and online degree program. It will also house extensive student life space.

As an established post-secondary institution, TWU wanted a new gateway building that would define the campus entry and set the standard for future teaching and learning spaces . The solution that emerged out of vision and needs sessions was a light-filled, four-storey mass timber structure with a mix of formal and informal learning spaces to accommodate an ever-evolving student population.

The building, which is the first major project on campus in nearly 40 years, is set to be a landmark, both from the adjacent Trans-Canada highway and upon entering the campus in this largely rural city an hour east of Vancouver. It will transform the institution into a top-tier business school, and serve as a precedent for subsequent on-campus developments.

Thinkspace has been responsible for completed the academic programing, initial site analysis, zoning review and design development for the new school of business. Construction is scheduled to be completed in late 2021.
