We have history and knowledge that we leverage for our post secondary clients. Below is a brief overview of what Thinkspace offers to our post secondary clients.
Knowledge: Our leadership team is made of individuals that have worked on the owner’s side and know how to best think of your interests first. We think like an owner and put our selves in your shoes. We have experience with the issues you face on a day to day basis and what it takes to run your campuses and deliver post secondary education. We leverage this knowledge on every project no matter how small or large your project needs are.
Expertise: Our expertise is deep which includes: Research Labs, Health Sciences, Learning Commons, Trades and Technology, Student Housing, Faculty Spaces, and Ancillary Campus Spaces. Our work includes new builds, complex renovations, business cases, programming, utilization analytics, space management protocol and campus planning. Mass Timber, Passive House, Net-Zero, complex sites, and projects with difficult budgets and schedules round out our post secondary expertise.
Process: Post-secondary clients are the key decision makers and the “steering committee” is our mechanism for the critical project decisions. Our process is inclusive, transparent, and typically involves faculty, operations, staff, and students. Our integrated design team works to document the project needs and vision at the initial project stage which is the mechanism for decision making through the course of the project. We focus on managing expectations and bringing faculty, staff, and students together through the course of a project to create a vision and outcome that is shared by all.
People: Universities and Colleges are centered around curiosity, collaboration, commitment, and accountability which aligns and permeates our culture at Thinkspace. With a team is filled with post-secondary experts, and we look for every opportunity to leverage our knowledge to benefit every project. Post secondary projects are ultimately focused on students and the future. Our Thinkspace team members have individual experience working with post secondary clients internationally, and with in our Thinkspace portfolio we have worked with post secondary clients across Western Canada.
Technology: Our approach to technology is straightforward, tactile, and hands-on. For post secondary clients we use foam core models, sketch plans as well as digital fly through’s and renderings for planning and user group workshops as well as tools such as Lidar scanning, and Ground Penetrating Radar for technical coordination. For post secondary, tools that focus on consensus building are critical to project success, be it a masterplan or a building. Tools for building consensus include Campus Town Halls, Meet and Greets and Pop Ups on campus and now Zoom sessions in real time with users, which brings consensus among Faculty, operations and all the end users.
