Rothewood Academy Garden City
Thinkspace was engaged to design a 1060 m2 daycare with six classrooms for children aged 0-5. We designed the daycare, prepared contract documents, and steered the project through construction to occupancy.
The daycare design encourages independent learning and natural play by creating a comfortable yet dynamic environment for children and staff. A key feature of the design scheme is a preserved moss wall, which creates a welcoming sense of arrival in the reception area.
Two benches - one filled with preserved plants and another lined with real birch branches - animate the hallways and promote an appreciation of nature for the children.
The space also included child-sized washroom fixtures and a commercial-grade kitchen / food preparation area.
