Len Rodrigues Recognized with Tom Sutherland Award

We’re very proud to announce that our own Leonard (Len) Rodrigues Architect, AIBC, AAA (Life Member), FRAIC (Life Member), RPP, MCIP, senior architect and senior planner at Thinkspace, has been recognized for his contributions to architecture in the province of Alberta with the Tom Sutherland Award.

The award is bestowed by the Alberta Architecture Association (AAA) on a member who exemplifies exceptional leadership qualities within the architectural sector in Alberta, advances the profession, and demonstrates extraordinary service to the community.

Len is a highly deserving recipient. He has been involved in educational architecture and planning from the early 1980s, and designed his first school building in 1982 – J. Percy Page High School in Edmonton. Shortly thereafter, he developed a campus master plan for Lakeland College in Vermilion, AB. He has been involved almost exclusively in educational buildings and master planning since that time.

Len’s post-secondary architectural work includes the Alumni Hall, all nine residences, and the Trades Centre for Lakeland College Vermilion; Lakeland College’s Lloydminster Campus Main Building; the University of Calgary’s Information and Communication Technology Research Building (with Stantec Architecture) and NAIT’s Centre for Applied Technologies (with Stantec Architecture).

His recent master planning work includes Thompson Rivers University (with Stantec Architecture), the University of Alberta South Campus (with Stantec Architecture), Okanagan College, Northern Lakes College, Portage College, the Justice Institute of British Columbia. In addition to his past projects, Len is currently working with Keyano College on their plan.

Len is a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, a past president of the Alberta Association of Architects, and served as the Alberta Association’s Registrar for almost a decade.

Huge congratulations, Len, from the entire Thinkspace team on this prestigious and well-deserved recognition!
