A4LE BC Chapter AGM Presentation

Ray Wolfe, Patrick Stewart from AME Group and Monte Paulsen from RDH Building Science Inc. will be presenting at the Association for Learning Environments BC Chapter AGM. Co-presenters include Mo Khan from OM Engineering. Their presentation focuses on the lessons learned from designing for a Net-Zero Energy school and thinking beyond net-zero energy for our schools.
Jurisdictions all over BC are adapting varying degrees of the BC Energy Step Code to ultimately lead to net-zero energy buildings in the future – therefore, mandating more energy efficient buildings. But designing for an energy-balance alone is not enough to combat the current climate crisis affecting the globe. It is important to also consider the associated embodied carbon. The presentation reviews the terminology revolving around “net-zero” buildings, the takeaways from designing for net-zero energy on Site 207, and considerations and recommendations for future project teams attempting to achieve rigorous energy and/or carbon targets for their buildings.
