“The Urban Food Revolution: Changing the Way We Design Cites” presented by Peter Ladner, Author, The Urban Food Revolution & Business in Vancouver.
When we are faced with an ever increasing demand on the global food supply (increase in 70% needed by 2050), decreasing farmland, and localised droughts, urban farming provides a potentially substantial, alternative local source of produce for cities. Peter Ladner provided an engaging presentation of several alternative models for urban food production from community gardens and supermarket rooftops, to Kelowna’s own success story: cycling backyard farmer, Curtis Stone.
As a new school in the area, Mar Jok Elementary School supports the educational and physical needs of the rapidly expanding Rose Valley community in West Kelowna, BC.
This project has been recognized as recipient of the 2014 Canadian Home Builder’s Association Tommie Gold Award for the “Best Outside of the Box” entry for its success in meeting the primary objectives and its innovative design features.
Thinkspace is pleased to announce that Todd Dust and Henk Kampman have become partners in the firm along with Mark Mathiasen and Ron Hoffart.
