Wei Gan

Wei has completed both the Architectural Building Technology Diploma program and the Bachelor in Architectural Sciences programs at BCIT. He enjoys learning and is always striving to improve himself. He has experience working in various construction fields ranging from estimating, and construction renovation.

Before starting at Thinkspace, Wei had the opportunity to travel through East and Southeast Asia, where he was inspired by the beautiful architecture and landscapes. He is interested in pursuing a dual Master’s Degree in Architecture and Landscape Architecture in the future, in order to generate better user experiences.

Four questions with…

What is your favourite pastime?
I am currently learning how to do woodworking, experimenting with some custom furniture pieces. When I am not woodworking, I also enjoy gardening. I am currently building up my plant collection, focusing on shaping these plants into bonsai.

Where is your happy place?
My happy place is anywhere in nature. I particularly enjoy trekking through the forest or sitting on a nice boulder staring out into the world beyond. 

What’s your favourite Thinkspace project (to date)?
My favourite Thinkspace project to date is a toss up between SĆIȺNEW̱ SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ (South Langford) Elementary School  and the Yorkson Community Park Field House. I had the opportunity to work on both projects and although they differ in scale, both are projects which place a lot of significance into responding to the community’s needs and also to the site.

If you weren’t working in architecture, what would you be doing?
Growing up, I had always wanted to become an airline pilot; however, my colleagues say I wouldn’t make a very good pilot…
